Verizon revamps DSL plans

Verizon gets rid of contracts for DSL services

Verizon on Monday announced significant changes to its cable Internet services. Chief among them is the elimination of contracts, along with related early termination fees. There are two tiers of service, with the first offering voice service at home for local and long-distance calls, along with web speeds of between 500Kbps and 1Mbps. It costs $35 per month.

The second tier brings higher speeds to customers who live in supported areas, at between 1.1Mbps and 15Mbps. Voice service is included here as well and this costs $60 per month.

Users can then add DirecTV services to either package with prices there starting at $50 per month for 12 months and after a rebate.

The DirecTV services do carry a two-year contract and related early cancellation fees, however.
