OGT claims world's thinnest Android tablet

updated 04:40 pm EDT, Mon April 18, 2011

OGT Mobile promises 7mm thin Android tablet

Relatively unknown company OGT Mobile is making claims that its upcoming Tablet will be the thinnest to run on Android, at 7mm (0.28in) thick. The partially described slate has what should 10-inch screen, and is expected to include a 1GHz CPU of an unknown and versions with 16GB and 32GB of space. A microSD memory card slot will allow for expanding storage space.

The tablet will weigh 550 grams (19.4oz). The screen's 188DPI density is also higher than competing devices, including the Motorola Xoom's (152DPI) and the Apple iPad (132DPI). The tablet will be sold in a Wi-Fi-only version and one with both Wi-Fi and 3G, with either getting both a five-megapixel rear-facing and a three-megapixel front-facing camera.

Compared to Samsung's recently redesigned Galaxy Tab 10.1, which measures 8.6mm thick, and Apple's iPad 2, at 8.8mm, the OGT device's thickness would make it one of the thinnest tablets anywhere.

Pricing remains unknown at this point, but the device is likely to make its official debut this summer. [via AndroidCentral]
