Maestro dates, prices convertible Atom tablet

Maestro has just shown off a new Atom Z670-based tablet, the Maestro S, in Beijing. The device follows up on the Evolve III introduced at CES that could boot into either Windows 7, Android or MeeGo. The new device does the same but adds an integrated kickstand and a magnetic screen cover that doubles as a wireless keyboard.

When the cover is attached, the tablet is automatically put into a hibernate mode. Otherwise, the 10.1-inch tablet uses Intel's new 1.5GHz Atom Z670 processor. A 32GB solid-state drive provides the main storage, and it comes with 2GB of RAM and Wi-Fi along with an HDMI output and two USB ports. A microSD memory card slot and stereo speakers are also present. The 3G model will get GPS and an accelerometer.

On the software side, Windows 7 was customized to get a five-panel touch interface. Maestro estimated the battery will last more than ten hours on Windows and longer than 16 on Android.

When it arrives in June in the US, the Maestro S should cost $729 at retailers. Any potential carrier partnerships weren't mentioned. [via NetbookNews]
