updated 06:30 pm EDT, Wed April 13, 2011

Updates all non-Gutenprint Canon drivers

Apple has released an update to all of its native Canon drivers for users of Mac OS X 10.6.1 and higher, with the combo version weighing in at 307.23MB and bumping the version number to v2.5. Most individual drivers now sport version number 10.36.2.0, with the exception of the CanoScan lineup which is marked as v1.50. All Gutenprint drivers remain at v5.23 and are not affected by the update.

Users obtaining the release through Software Update may show only the relevant updates to a user's attached printers. A full list of supported Canon peripherals can be found here.

    Ummm...

Driver updates occur all the time. What makes this one especially note worthy?

    Uh, no

They sometimes happen within short intervals, but they don't happen "all the time."

The last Apple update to Canon printers was in December, in point of fact.

And do a driver for the Epson 3800 Pro. And stop blaming Epson, they didn't re-write the OSX. Pretty bad when Epson's entry professional division printer is not looked after for years. A warning to future Epson customers.
