NewTek brings AirPlay support to TriCaster interface

updated 06:30 pm EDT, Tue April 12, 2011

High-end production gear works with iOS devices

NewTek has announced that its latest TriCaster production gear, the 850 Extreme, now allows users to work with audio and video from any AirPlay-enabled device. The support enables the equipment to simultaneously connect with two AirPlay sources, including the iPad, iPod touch, iPhone and a variety of Macs.

The company suggests it strived for AirPlay support, rather than creating its own custom app, so third-party developers can continue to create apps that automatically work with the TriCaster. The 850 Extreme is said to work with any AirPlay application, enabling the wireless feeds to be used for live production or recording.

Aside from AirPlay support, the TriCaster enables users to record up to eight channels of video from any input or output. The system supports multi-format recording, while providing a wealth of options for audio adjustment and video configuration.

The TriCaster 850 Extreme will be available in the third quarter of 2011 for $40,000.
