Elonex shows off six new Android tablets

Elonex, a British tablet maker, has just unveiled six new eTouch-branded, Android-powered tablets with an aim to claim the lowest price. The devices range from the seven-inch, 119 (about $195) eTouch 760ET and top out with the 279 ($456), 10-inch, 3G-ready eTouch Blade 1043ET. All six run on the admittedly aging Android 2.2 version of Google's OS.

The eTouch 760ET uses an 800x480 resolution resistive touchscreen while the equally seven-inch 702ET (179 or $293) has an 800x600 capacitive, more responsive surface. Both share Wi-Fi and 4GB of built-in storage supplemented by a microSDHC memory card slot. The former gets a 1.0GHz LNX Code 11 ARM processor and 256MB of RAM while the latter is powered by an 800MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor and 512MB of RAM. Either ships later in April.

The four 10-inch models start at the low-end of the price spectrum with the 149 ($244) eTouch Blade 1000ET. It gets the same 1GHZ LNX Code 11 CPU and 256MB of RAM as the smaller 760ET along with the same storage specs. The 10.1-inch resistive touchscreen has a 1024x600 resolution.

The 1040ET (229 or $374) has a capacitive, 1024x600 touchscreen and gets the 800MHz A8 CPU along with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. The most expensive 1043ET gets the same screen and other specs but adds a 3G radio.

Finally, the 189 ($309) 1044ET gets what Elonex calls a progressive touchscreen that's said to be a hybrid of capacitive and resistive technology. It comes powered by the 800MHz ARM chip that's paired with 512MB of RAM, with other specs shared with the previously mentioned tablets.

All of the 10-inch models also get Wi-Fi and ship in May in the UK, with a US launch not planned so far. [via TheInquirer]
