Leak shows two Samsung Bada 2.0 mobiles, due late 2011

updated 08:40 am EDT, Mon April 11, 2011

New Bada 2.0 handsets also to include NFC

A leak from a recent Samsung France conference shows to unannounced Samsung Bada handsets running the revamped Bada 2.0 OS, as well as incorporating NFC technology. The mobile handsets are expected to be unveiled in that latter part of the year, as will their names. The same slide also shows a new Bada handset, the Wave 578 due this June, but it will only be running Bada 1.1 at this stage.

While the slide uncovered by bada World does not reveal the processing power of the two new Samsung Bada 2.0 handsets, it does show that both of the phones will be HSDPA 7.2 capable and will be equipped with Bluetooth 3.0. The first of the two Bada 2.0 handsets is expected in September, and appears to be the more upmarket of the two with its 5-megapixel camera and larger 3.65-inch HVGA display. The second of the two devices is due in November, and is lower specified with a smaller 3.14-inch display and a less powerful 3-megapixel camera.

The separate launches of the new Bada 2.0 handsets equipped with NFC will arrive just months before Samsung will partner with VISA to deliver NFC mobile payments for Visa and Samsung sponsored athletes, as well as consumers for the 2012 London summer Olympics.
