Samsung Galaxy S II delayed for bump to 1.2GHz

Samsung Galaxy S II speeds up to 1.2GHz

Samsung has quietly given the Galaxy S II a speed upgrade that likely contributed to its moving back to May. The company said on its Estonian Facebook fan page that the in-house Exynos processor was jumping from 1GHz to 1.2GHz. No reason was given as to why, but bragging rights were the most likely since Samsung claimed it would have the "fastest" dual-core Android 2.3 phone.

A LG Optimus 3D and most NVIDIA Tegra 2 phones are at least competitive. Samsung's greatest threat might be the HTC Evo 3D and its Pyramid counterpart, both of which use dual-core 1.2GHz processors from Qualcomm.

Regardless of the speed, the phone should always have a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, an eight-megapixel rear camera, and a front two-megapixel camera. It carries Android 2.3 and a newly modernized version of Samsung's TouchWiz interface.
