Boost Mobile's April 5 surprise to be Samsung Galaxy Prevail

Samsung Galaxy Prevail leaked for Boost

A special event Boost Mobile is holding in New York City on April 5 has had its plans uncovered through a pair of leaks. The device has been identified as the Samsung Galaxy Prevail and would be one of the few smartphones outside of the Motorola i1. An Android Central forum goer confirming the name said it would be a straightforward device with an Android 2.2 and a 3.2-megapixel camera.

Alongside the details, a shot obtained this week by PocketNow has suggested it may be an unusual phone for Samsung. Although the design is similar to Galaxy S phones on a superficial level, it appears to be using the stock Android 2.2 OS rather than the usual TouchWiz layer. It's believed the design has a smaller screen than the four-inch Galaxy S flagship and would likely be lower resolution as well.

It's still unknown whether the phone would go with CDMA or use Boost's push-to-talk IDEN network. The former might be more likely given its parent company Sprint's plans to phase out IDEN.

Electronista has been invited to the event and hopes to have a hands-on next week.
