Lenovo shows new pro-oriented desktop PCs

Lenovo on Monday introduced the new ThinkStation E30 workstation and ThinkCentre M81 desktop computers aimed at professionals. Both offer Intel's second-generation Core processors. The E30 replaces the E20 and for the first time gets the option of solid state storage, either in 80GB or 160GB capacities. The desktop gets SATA III and USB 3.0 interfaces as well.

Also on offer are NVIDIA's Quadro or NVS graphics cards, and as much as 16GB of RAM. A Blu-ray player is offered instead of the standard DVD burner.

The ThinkCentre M81 can be had in either a tower or small form factor. Storage can be had up to a 160GB solid state drive and a choice of Intel HD graphics or AMD discrete Radeon graphics. There is SATA III and USB 3.0 onboard as well. Lenovo's Enhanced Experience 2.0 for Windows 7 and RapidBoot tech allows for faster boot up times for either new PC.

The ThinkStation E30 ships in May starting at $629. The ThinkCentre M81 arrives late in April for $599.
