Motorola confirms Atrix issues, working on fix

In response to a number of user complaints on Motorola's support forum, a company representative has acknowlged voice quality concerns with its new Atrix handset. It hasn't yet offered any fixes, but a representative said it's looking into the problem. In order to help this cause, Motorola wants those experiencing problems to provide more specific information on their handsets and use.

This includes whether they use a case or screen protector, and what brand they are. It gets even more specific, asking the male users if they have facial hair, whether users cover the secondary microphone on the back of the phone and if they're in quiet or loud environments when the problem occurs.

To get to the bottom of the issue, the company also wants to know users' Noise Suppression settings, whether changing them improves quality, their signal strength at the time and a number of other factors.

Responses to the questions reveal Bluetooth headsets eliminate the problems, but this isn't an acceptable resolution to users.

The problems started being reported in mid-February, with the questions posted near the start of March. As of March 24, no fixes have been posted. At least one user said swapping for a different Atrix fixed the issues, but another had no such luck with three different Atrix phones.

Now that's better than some companies that deny issues with it's hardware/software or straight out blame the user for the problem.

Yes Apple, I'm talking to you.
