LG Optimus 3D, not G2X, hits FCC with T-Mobile 3G

updated 06:40 am EDT, Wed March 23, 2011

LG Optimus 3D set to join GX2 and G-Slate?

The LG Optimus 3D has paid a visit to the FCC and has received its approval. Referred to in the FCC documentation as the LG P920, the LG Optimus 3D's GSM radio will support the T-Mobile AWS 1700MHz network spectrum. The device has also already been confirmed as a starter on AT&T's network, although it will be branded as the LG Thrill 4G .

However, while AT&T announced that it will be carrying the LG Thrill 4G at CTIA, T-Mobile made no mention of it at the time it announced that it will be bringing its adaptation of the LG Optimus 2X, the T-Mobile G2X and the LG G-Slate to market this spring. Thus, while it could have been expected to be the G2X to hit the FCC, it was something of a surprise to see that a version of the LG Optimus 3D will also be compatible with T-Mobile's network.

The LG Optimus 3D is powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP4 dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz. Its graphics core is said to be twice as powerful as its "nearest competitor", which at the time it was announced would likely have been the NIVIDA's Tegra 2. It has up to four times as many decoders helping to give it the graphics power needed to support its 3D viewing and recording capabilities.
