Moto Atrix due for T-Mo UK as Bell sees HSUPA cap

The Motorola Atrix will be expanding its reach again in the near future through its first known launch outside of North America. T-Mobile UK has posted a teaser for its own version. No launch details have been given, but subscribers are being asked to sign up for notifications, usually a sign that the device is a few months away.

A T-Mobile version will likely be identical to the AT&T model but possibly adapted to European bands. The phone packs 14.4Mbps 3G as well as a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and a four-inch, 540x960 screen and a five-megapixel back camera supported by a front camera.

The only other carrier believed to be getting the Atrix so far is Sprint, which may get a CDMA plus WiMax version in April alongside the Xoom.

New owners at Bell Canada, however, have been concerned that the device might face the same upload speed cap as its AT&T counterpart. Despite Bell already using HSUPA-based 3G on many of the devices on its network, early tests from owners on XDA-Developers have the upload speeds at old HSDPA rates of just a few hundred kilobits per second.

Bell hasn't commented on the speeds, but AT&T has so far turned off HSUPA upload speeds on devices it's not ready to support with the faster network. It may be in a similar state or could simply be using very similar firmware to the US version without having fully updated the phone to reflect its own network.
