LG Optimus V in sellout, Nexus S 4G logo seen

Virgin Mobile's LG Optimus V has seen an unexpectedly high amount of demand based on first-hand looks. Every retailer that carries the ultra-budget Android 2.2 phone, including Best Buy, Target, and Walmart, has remained backordered for at least the past two weeks. Android and Me didn't check, but Virgin's online store also lists it as "temporarily out of stock."

The Optimus V is likely to be in sheer demand through its very low price. At $150 without a contract, it may be the least expensive Android phone in the US. Virgin's plans are also much less expensive at just $25 a month for 300 minutes, unlimited data, and unlimited texting. Sprint also sells the same phone as the Nexus S 4G also got further support. The same Sprint Users forum member who leaked the Xoom for Sprint and is known to have inside access has also been using the phone's official logo as his avatar.

The Nexus S 4G should be a straightforward port of the T-Mobile edition with WiMAX on Sprint's network but the same four-inch curved Super AMOLED screen, NFC wireless, a 1GHz Hummingbird for a processor, and both five-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras.
