HTC Evo 3D, Evo View 4G get hard specs pre-CTIA

updated 10:35 pm EDT, Fri March 18, 2011

HTC Evo 3D and Evo View 4G detailed early

Two of Sprint's devices for its CTIA rollout were detailed late Friday in an uncharacteristically detailed news tip. The Evo 3D would be the expected HTC Shooter and offer counterpart to the Optimus 3D. HTC's device would use the rumored, dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon MSM8660 processor to drive a 4.3-inch, glasses-free, 540x960 display. BGR was told it would have the dual five-megapixel rear cameras to record 3D video (up to 720p) and would support both YouTube 3D and a brand new Blockbuster 3D movie app.

It would be the first known American HTC phone to run Android 2.3 and would accordingly have a 1.3-megapixel front camera. A large 1GB of RAM and 4GB of ROM would be inside with a fairly large 1,730mAh battery to drive the design.

The Evo View 4G would, as suspected, be a direct adaptation of the HTC Flyer tablet. Sprint would mostly contribute through the use of WiMAX. Other details would stay the same, including its unique seven-inch, 1024x600 display with a special level of pen support that can ignore spurious palm input. A 1.5GHz single-core Snapdragon, a five-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera and Android 2.3 define the rest of the slate.

Further tips mostly confirmed earlier rumors without necessarily putting them in the CTIA show timeframe, including plans of a WiMAX-equipped Xoom and a WiMAX PlayBook. Basic phones would only get token support through the Rant 3, a touchscreen messaging phone with a solar panel to boost its green credentials.
