INQ Cloud Touch goes up for UK pre-order, ships April 6

updated 06:00 pm EDT, Fri March 18, 2011

Cloud Touch features deep Facebook integration

After rumors last September that INQ and Facebook were co-developing a mobile handset with deep Facebook integration, the INQ Cloud Touch was officially unveiled in early February. Slashgear reports that the phone, which puts Facebook front and center of its Android OS but which does not carry official Facebook branding, is now up for UK pre-order. It is expected to ship on April 6.

Aimed at the middle tier of the smartphone segment, the phone centers on a 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen with live Facebook feeds being streamed constantly from the cloud. One-touch links to Chat, Friends, Messages, Wall and Notifications appear on the homepage, while it also includes Facebook Events integration with the device's Google Calendar. The INQ Cloud Touch is also the first phone to use the Facebook social graph API, which enables users to follow updates from friends that they follow the most.

The Cloud Touch incorporates standard connectivity including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS and an FM radio. It will be followed in June by the INQ Cloud Q, which will incorporate a full-QWERTY keyboard for those who prefer a tactile messaging experience.

No word on the expected US release of the INQ Cloud Touch and pricing, although it is expected to be available on the AT&T network when it hits the market.
