Review: iPad 2

updated 01:20 am EDT, Wed March 16, 2011

We review the iPad 2 against the Motorola Xoom

Tablets were a veritable niche until the iPad, which made Apple's launch easy: it practically walked into a market uncontested. In 2011, however, it's virtually surrounded on all sides, mostly by Android devices such as the Motorola Xoom but also by the upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook and even the left field entry from the HP TouchPad. In our full review of the iPad 2, we'll look at whether it can fend these off and if it can appeal to what could be its toughest audience: existing iPad owners.

    Yup...

Just as I suspected... the ipad is superior no matter what the flaws or the truly superior capabilities of the competition. Waste of 5 minutes of my life hoping for a truly objective review. Oh well off to REAL objective tech. news sites I go....

    And Stay There

Seemed like a very fair and balanced review to me. And not in the Faux News sort of way.

The iPad wasn't deemed superior no matter what the flaws or the truly superior capabilities of the competition. It was deemed superior overall. Because when everything is considered - not just this isolated feature here or that specific stat there - it is the best tablet on the market with an overall experience that no one can match or will match, certainly in 2011. No matter what your "REAL objective" tech news sites may say.

    Ditto (to And Stay There!)

Omega, do yourself and favour and just go live in the Land of Vapourware, which is where ALL BUT TWO of the supposed iPad rivals you fantasize about live (and will live for months to come).

I've played with both of the ACTUAL SHIPPING iPad rivals, and imho the review is pretty spot-on.

Speaking of bias, how come you're allowed to have a prejudice AGAINST the iPad, and yet criticize others for being biased (when, in fact, they aren't) just because their conclusions don't agree with your made-up, no-practical-experience-to-draw-from conclusions?

Oh, YOUR pre-judging and bias aren't hypocritical, just OTHER people's! I see!

Are you by chance a Republican officeholder? Cuz you sure sound like one ...

    I'm a conservative

and I think the iPad will remain the market winner. It's makes the others look like the alsorans that they are. Apple got a head start with an outstanding product and is dedicated to improving it. The others are just getting started.

I don't own an iPad and have no immediate plans to do so. I don't see where one would fit in my life...what useful purpose it would serve for me. I do, however, manage a number of them for my employer, so I have a fair amount of experience with them.
