Agile Messenger redesigned from ground up for iPad, iPhone

updated 08:50 pm EDT, Wed March 16, 2011

App goes universal, supports most IMs, Facebook

Agilemobile has launched a universal version of its Internet messaging app, Agile Messenger HD adding iPad capabilities to the iPhone app. The app, which allows users to connect to multiple messaging services like Facebook IM, AIM, Jabber, GoogleTalk, Yahoo Messenger and any XMPP server, is a complete rebuild rather than a port of the iPhone app.

The app now works with the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, sends picture and voice messages over IM, offers multitasking support and full Facebook support -- including Facebook status updates, wall postings, news feed reading and notification support.

Other features in the redesigned app are push notifications, a built-in web browser, and emoticon support. The app is iOS 4 tested, requires at least iOS 3.2 and is available on the App Store for $5, an introductory price for March. It will be priced at $8 beginning April 1.
