Time Warner Cable app for iPad goes live

The Time Warner iPad app previewed just yesterday has now gone live (free, App Store). The app promises the ability of watching TV in the home over Wi-Fi, as long as users are a Time Warner Cable subscriber. Only selected live cable TV channels are supported, including Bravo, Animal Planet, The Food Network, BET, AMC, A&E, CNBC, BBC America, Discovery, E! News and 20 more in HD.

Early reviews point to a poor loudness level on the iPad 2 by one user. Another even questions its usefulness in the home and says it can't be used outside the home, despite having a Wi-Fi connection. Another wishes it would turn the iPad into a remote control at home.

Time Warner Cable promises future updates with additional channels and expanded app functionality that could address some of these issues.

Now all they have to do is ...

completely scrap their current infrastructure (ancient cable TV tech) for a TCP/IP based service over DSL like U-verse.

    Works well

For a v1 product, it does what they advertise. I get the channels they say I should, the video is clear, and it was easy to get in.

Now I want to be able to pause video, and want more channels as well. I don't care about controlling the TWC DVR, I got rid of that POS a while back.
