HTC Prime, Ignite with WP7 show up on Chinese dev site

HTC Windows Phone 7 handsets show up in China

Two upcoming HTC handsets powered by Windows Phone 7 have been revealed, including the Prime and Ignite by Chinese site The Ignite is billed as the flagship, sporting a 3.7-inch, 800x480-pixel touchscreen and an 800MHz CPU from Qualcomm, likely a second-generation Snapdragon. It will also sport 512MB of RAM and a five-megapixel camera.

The handset will support 7.2Mbps 3G downloads and 2Mbps uploads. It is said to ship in mid-2011, likely restricted to China. The main specs, namely the resistive touchscreen and 800MHz processor, do not match up with Microsoft's Class 1 requirement for WP7 devices. This could either mean the source is off on the specs or the phone is the first of Class 2 handsets for WP7. A resistive touchscreen is not part of those specs, however.

The Prime uses a slide-out QWERTY hardware keyboard but otherwise shares the same basic specs as the Ignite. This includes the same display, camera, amount of RAM and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios. An LED camera flash is also present. A release date for this handset hasn't been revealed. HTC itself hasn't yet officially talked about these devices and might not show them until much later in the year.
