Apple doing early Tues. store openings for iPad 2 restock?

updated 03:15 pm EDT, Mon March 14, 2011

New shipments said to be coming in today

Apple is planning to open at least some of its US retail stores an hour early on Tuesday morning, a report claims. The sole purpose would be to make it possible for more people to get the iPad 2, which is allegedly being restocked in many outlets today. The information is said to have initially been confirmed with three locations, although one later said it was not sure whether a new shipment would arrive on Monday.

It is not unprecedented for Apple Stores to open early after a restocking. The chain's regular hours can, in many cases, make it difficult for working people to get an in-demand product before stock runs out. Apple may also be able to better control crowds by grouping most iPad 2 buyers together.
