Intel Mobile Communications buys SySDSoft

Intel kicked off the week with the announcement that it has acquired the majority of Cairo-based SySDSoft. As part of the deal, Intel hired 100 of the company's engineers and scientists. SySDSoft makes IP solutions in the software stack and physical layer domain along with RF/analog circuits for embedded mobile platforms.

The investment will accelerate Intel Mobile Communications' 4G LTE efforts to build computing platforms that are always connected and energy efficient. The chips will be included into notebooks, vehicles, smartphones, tablets and TVs.

SySDSoft's current products have support for a range of wireless communications technologies, including WiMAX, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Wireless USB and LTE.
