PlayStation Suite, PS2 games coming to Tegra 2 with Android

NVIDIA says PS Suite and PS2 games due on Tegra 2

NVIDIA through its Android Tegra Zone app this week said that Sony's PlayStation Suite was coming to Tegra 2-based Android devices. The move makes it the first device and platform beyond Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play to support it. It should bring at least PS1 games like Wild Arms and eventually more original titles.

The chip designer's John Gaudiosi also added that PS2 games would eventually come to Android devices, bringing much more visually attractive and more complex gaming to the platform. He didn't give timetables for when this would happen.

Non-Sony hardware may have trouble running some games properly. Touch-only devices like the Atrix 4G and Xoom would have to have all their controls on the display, and they may miss out on games like SSX that need all the shoulder buttons as well as the directional pad, analog sticks and face buttons. Most PS Suite games on the Tegra 2 may be generic where the Xperia Play and others like it get closer to a full control set.

The unveiling hints that Sony Ericsson might be willing to use the Tegra 2 or future quad-core NVIDIA chips like Kal-El (Tegra 3) in its hardware. [via Android and Me]
