NewerTech unveils NuShelf mount for minis, Time Capsules

updated 11:20 pm EST, Fri March 11, 2011

Available in single or dual mount versions

Following on from their previous NuShelf mount for the older Mac minis, Newer Technology has introduced the NuShelf Mount for the 2010 Mac Mini or Apple Time Capsule, and is aimed at owners who would like to save desktop space or better secure those items under a desk, shelf or cabinet. The new NuShelf version retains open access to ports, cooling vents, power buttons and the underside as well as the front of the Mac mini, and uses a thicker laser-cut acrylic to support heavier loads.

A recessed bottom opening seats the Mac mini securely, while backstops are added to prevent the unit from sliding out the back. Rear cutouts make it easy to insert SD cards or to get at the power button, and the use of acrylic means there is no signal loss from Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Additional vertical clearance means the unit can be mounted under a cabinet, and four mounting screws are included. Dimensions on the mount are 8.1 inches by 8.1 inches by 3.6 inches.

The NuShelf comes in two versions: a single mount capable of holding one 2010 Mac mini or one Apple Time Capsule, or a dual-mount that holds two of either device or one of each. The units are designed and built in the US and sell for $40 (single mount) or $45 (dual mount). They are available now from Other World Computing, NewerTech's sales and distribution partner.

    Re: Plastic Mounts??

Seriously, I would not trust a plastic security for my Mac Mini! It cost me over $750 bucks!
Theres a lot of c*** on the web but I finally found

    http://www.tryten.com/Apple-Mac-Security-Locks/Mac-Mini-Security-Mount

and this thing is made of METAL! Tryten's "Mac Mini Security Mount" does not interfere with Wifi or internet. It hides the little door that the ram sits in and fits and looks good. They have another model that you can secure with a standard laptop lock too! Metal is stronger than plastic!!!! I found that installation was easy and they supplied everything I needed. I found this page while surfing and just had to comment because I'm very happy with how Tryten treated me.
