Sharp readies three connected 3D Blu-ray players

Sharp this week announced the upcoming release of three new 3D Blu-ray players. They include the BD-HP75U, BD-HP35U and BD-HP25U, all of which can play back 1080p 3D content at 24FPS and support for Dolby True HD and DTS HD audio formats. More importantly, however, will be support for Netflix, Vudu, Pandora and YouTube streaming.

While the top two models have Wi-Fi radios integrated, the BD-HP25U requires an optional adapter. Each device has DLNA support for streaming copy-protected content as well, including that stored on USB thumb drives. Supported file formats include AVCHD (H.264), DIVX Plus HD, JPEG and MP3 files.

The players have HDMI upscaling capability that works on a pixel by pixel basis rather than frame by frame like other devices. The Wi-Fi connection also allow for BD-Live features access.

The $300 BD-HP35U and $250 BD-HP25U are now available, with the $330 BD-HP75U joining the range on March 14.
