Galaxy Tab 10.1 surfaces at FCC

Gets FCC approval, looks to be headed stateside

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has surfaced at the FCC. The Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet is in for approval and it appears that device will be headed stateside soon. Its 3G radio includes support for the 850 and 1900MHz spectrum, meaning that it is compatible with US networks.

It carries the model number P7100, whereas that original 7-inch Galaxy Tab carries the P700 designation. The FCC has given the device approval to ship, however the price that it ultimately ships for will be of interest.

Today, Samsung executive VP of mobile Lee Don-joo said that the launch of the upgraded iPad 2 at the same price as the outgoing model has put pressure on Samsung to rethink its pricing strategy. It will be a particular challenge for Samsung as its 7-inch 16GB Galaxy Tab sells for $600.
