Motorola Droid X 2 may have FCC nod

Motorola's Droid X 2 may be moving closer to launch after an FCC filing. A mystery device, called only the IHDT56MJ1, has passed through the agency with support for CDMA, EVDO and 802.11n Wi-Fi. It follows the naming scheme of earlier Motorola devices but isn't believed to be the Droid Bionic.

Part of the expectation comes from the short term confidentiality letter attached to the filing. Motorola's request asked that the FCC keep photos, the manual and other revealing details a secret for 180 days from the February filing, putting the launch roughly in mid-August. The original Droid X launched in mid-July.

Most expect the Droid X 2 to be a large, Verizon-friendly equivalent of the Atrix with a 4.3-inch 540x960 screen, a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and an eight-megapixel camera. It would also use the same, updated version of the Blur interface that's due to show on the Bionic. Differences between the Bionic and X 2 two are slight and would mostly involve doubling the RAM and, most likely, adding support for the Lapdock and the HD media dock.
