Bell confirms Motorola Atrix due March 17

Canada on Friday became the first country outside of the US to get the Motorola Atrix with firm launch details from Bell. The dual-core Android flagship should reach the carrier on March 17 and will cost $170 on a three-year contract, albeit with as little as a $50 smartphone plan. Both the notebook dock and the HD media dock will also be available, although Bell hasn't given prices.

The Canadian version is fundamentally similar to the American version we tried earlier and can still hit 14.4Mbps downstream, with a front camera to provide video chat. It touts a dense 540x960, four-inch touchscreen, 1GB of RAM, a five-megapixel back camera and 16GB of internal storage along with a microSDHC slot. Bell's Atrix is expected to give more freedom than the AT&T version as it should let users load apps from outside of the Android Market.

The notebook dock, also known as the Lapdock, starts up a windowed, near desktop-like interface and carries an 11.6-inch display, a full keyboard, stereo audio and a battery that gives the Atrix eight hours of use as a pseudo-notebook without necessarily hitting its own battery. Its HD dock is meant to link up either to a TV or a traditional computer display over HDMI and has three USB ports to plug in a mouse and keyboard.
