Tablets cut to clearance prices
Apple is refunding the price difference on some recent iPad 1 orders, accounts say. Following its announcement of the iPad 2, the company dropped prices on first-generation iPads to as little as $399 for new models, or $349 for refurbished ones. Prior to Wednesday though a new iPad 1 cost a minimum of $499, or as much as $829 for a 64GB 3G version.
The refunds are said to be worth at least $100, and should scale up to $170 in the case of a full-spec tablet. A narrow time window may apply, however. Original orders must reportedly have been placed within the last 14 days or so, likely making February 16th the earliest eligible date.

Recent?
Speaking as a scientist, "recent" refers to the Holocene epoch, a.k.a. the past 11,700 years. I'd say we're all due a little refund love from Cupertino, eh?
