iPad 2 event to include new 'social' mobile app?

Emphasis may be on media sharing


Tomorrow's Apple press event could signal the release of a new "social" mobile app, rumors suggest. The purpose of the alleged app is unclear; one source speculates that it could involve media, photo and/or location sharing. It could also involve Ping, or alternately MobileMe. In either case the person contends that if there is a surprise at the event, the app may be involved.

Widespread reports have pointed to MobileMe becoming a free service, also associated with a media locker enabling remote access to iTunes content. This could be the reason for a new app. Apple may also be interested in stepping more deeply into social networks, in which it has had a difficult time competing so far. Neither Ping nor Game Center have achieved any significant popularity.

    And as far as I'm concerned: please not another iteration of this social media hype c.r.a.p.

    ilovestevejobs, you must have a pretty empty life. You post on a heck of a lot of stories here on MacNN among so-called "losers". The only thing I can think of to explain it, is that you aren't really accepted by anyone, or you're not given much attention or appreciation by anyone. So you post here to agitate because you'll get what you lack, for better or worse.

    But don't you find it a waste of time? You know, I think you should get a puppy....
