Apple preps Yerba Buena for March 2 event [photos]

Familiar Apple facade ahead of upcoming SF event

Ahead of the planned March 2nd event, Apple has posted promotional signage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco -- the same location where it announced the original iPad just over a year ago, and where it will give the media its first look at the next iPad, as featured in its invitation.

The photos below show workmen hanging the signage, which features a random array of colored "dots" across a white background and the Apple logo prominently featured. Although rumors about the included new features have swirled almost since the original iPad's release -- the latest being a claim by a Japanese site of a full mockup -- the actual specs have been successfully kept under wraps, though it is widely expected that the new version will upgrade key components in order to remain competitive with the increasingly crowded field of new iPad-style tablets.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
