Apple staff meetings related to new 'Joint Venture' services

updated 06:55 pm EST, Tue February 22, 2011

'Geniuses' to take phone calls or house calls

Despite rumors that Apple's retail staff are set to be briefed on new MacBook Pros, separate sources suggest the employees actually will receive information regarding new services titled 'Joint Venture.' If true, the information posted by Boy Genius Report appears to confirm an expansion of Genius Bar services, which were first hinted at a year ago when Apple filed to trademark the term.

Apple's 'Geniuses' are currently limited to helping customers who walk into the company's retail locations, while telephone support is handled separately. Joint Venture is expected to be geared more for business customers, enabling the Geniuses to handle troubleshooting and other support through telephone conversations or a physical presence at the customers' establishment.

The latest sources suggest Apple is primarily planning to focus on the Joint Venture strategy for its Sunday meetings, though it is unclear if new hardware will also be a topic of discussion.
