Archos trots out Arnova Internet radio and TV hub

updated 06:05 am EST, Sun February 20, 2011

Wireless streaming in and out of the house

Archos has revealed its Arnova Internet radio and TV hub. The web-connected device can stream over 12,000 web radio stations through its 2x2 Watt speakers and over 1,500 web TV channels, which can viewed on its 3.5-inch color TFT 320x240 display. It comes with 2GB of internal storage, but also incorporates an SD card reader from which it can read audio files such as MP3, WAV, AAC and FLAC. Supported video files include AVI, MP4 and FLV.

As might be expected for a device in this category, it will also function as an alarm clock. However, because of its Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11 b/g), it also supports streaming across home networks via uPNP. It is also extremely flexible in the way it can be used thanks to its support for battery power, taking 4 AA batteries enabling the device to be used in the backyard if a user's wireless connectivity extends that far.

Pricing and availability has not yet been detailed.
