iPhone 4 tops Android at Mobile World Congress

updated 12:00 am EST, Thu February 17, 2011

Angry Birds voted best all-around app

Despite no presence whatsoever from Apple and a tendency among the judges to favor exhibitors, the iPhone 4 bested several attending rivals -- including all the current and just- introduced Android devices, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire and innumerable new iPad competitors to win the "Best Mobile Device" award at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, which is happening in Barcelona, Spain. HTC was named "Device Manufacturer of the Year" both for building their brand into a formidable presence in the world market as well as their own HTC Desire smartphone. Last year, the HTC Hero won Best Mobile Device.

While this was Apple's only award, it was the most important -- reflecting the remarkable success and influence the nine-month-old device has had on the entire market, even with carriers or areas where it is unavailable. Remarkably, the Android OS itself did not garner any direct awards, though Google itself won an award for the best app on its own Android App Marketplace, for Google Maps.

Top-rated multi-platform game Angry Birds took the top prize for both the Apple App Store and the overall Best App. Research in Motion won for it's BlackBerry Messenger app as Best App for the App World market, while Zum Zum took the honors for Nokia's Ovi Store.

In giving the Best Mobile Device award to Apple, the judges acknowledged the popularity and industry-leading clout of the iPhone, citing its "great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smartphones."

    Fair Enough

The iPhone 4 is emence but HTC's phones progress and develop almost every month it seems so they will soon chatch up and overtake apple. Apple dont seem to expand their ideas much. All their products stick to the same look just with different features. :/ But HTC's have veriety and a different stule for everyone, also the fact that android is avalible from numerous different manafactures tells me that its just more freindly where as apple dont open their arms to anyone ecept those with a large wallet.

You're thinking of custom toilets. And I'm thinking a dictionary would be a good investment for you.

    According to Consumer Reports

Its a big fat NO and its not getting CR blessing. So the iPhone 4 is a FAIL!
