Best Buy Mexico claims iWork '11 arriving February 19th

updated 03:45 pm EST, Tue February 15, 2011

Date unlikely

A splash page at the Best Buy Mexico website is claiming that iWork '11 will be launched on February 19th. The graphic provides little other information, except to say an event is taking place at 7PM that day. Apple has not formally announced an iWork update, nor is any event mentioned on the US Best Buy website.

While Apple is generally believed to be due for releasing a new version of iWork, no evidence of an imminent update has surfaced in recent weeks. In November it was claimed that a new suite was simply waiting for the Mac App Store to launch, but the service arrived without an iWork upgrade. In December, low stock of iWork '09 was seen as pointing to a refresh, but this may have been an aberration or a move to favor online sales.

What Apple might bring to iWork '11 is mostly speculation, but some teases have emerged. The company's CEO, Steve Jobs, has personally suggested that it should soon be possible to push a Keynote presentation from a Mac to an Apple TV. As with iWork '09, the '11 suite will probably be available as separate apps on the Mac App Store and together in boxed form.

    Don't think so

New product announcement from Apple on a Saturday? Hardly.

    Re: Don't think so

They didn't say "announced", it says "Launched". Apple has launched many a product on a saturday (iPhones and iPads, for example).

    Or doesn't that count?

    more likely a typo

I highly doubt that iwork would be released on Saturday at any Best Buy without some kind of clue it was coming hitting the blogosphere.

My guess is either someone screwed up and thought the current version is '11 same as iLife. or they got bad info and are talking out of their somberos
