iOS 4.3 delayed?
News Corp. has extended the free subscription period for the The Daily through February 28th, notes German site Macerkopf. The new date is listed in the Account Information section of the iPad app. When The Daily first launched on February 2nd, free access was only scheduled to last two weeks.
Why the grace period would be extended so far is unclear. Although News Corp. might simply need or want to attract more readers, it's believed that the publisher more likely had no choice as a result of delays with iOS 4.3. The firmware is required for in-app subscriptions, which may explain why some rumors had it arriving today at 1PM Eastern.
iOS 4.3 is also slated to broaden the reach of features in iOS 4.2.6, an exclusive Verizon iPhone release. The foremost of these is personal hotspot support, although AT&T has yet to announce when its iPhones will support the feature. A spokesman tells MacNN that the carrier is continuing to work with Apple on the issue.
