Sony previews Alpha A77 again at CP expo

Sony in the absence of major new cameras for the CP+ expo provided a new teaser for its future Alpha A700 sequel. The camera, shown in a transparent body to prove it's a real design, is now known to shoot 1080p video. The design was already known to have a translucent mirror which, combined with a CMOS sensor, will let it autofocus extremely quickly.

The new camera would also get a custom battery grip and will be joined by a new flash and a pair of new lenses when ready. One lens is a standard zoom with unidentified specs, while another will be a 500mm f4 G lens aimed at providing an A-mount equivalent to the super telephoto lenses that are more common at Canon and Nikon.

Few more concrete details have emerged of the camera, but rumors have suggested it will be called the Alpha A77 to be consistent with the A33 and A55. It might leap to as much as a 25-megapixel sensor.

The camera should ship sometime this year but doesn't have a launch date or price. via Impress]
