MetroPCS' Galaxy Indulge beats Verizon to LTE Android

Samsung Galaxy Indulge hits MetroPCS with 4G

MetroPCS on Wednesday managed to preempt Verizon with the first LTE-capable Android phone in the US. The Samsung Galaxy Indulge (also known as the Forte) is a close cousin of Sprint's Epic 4G but makes use of a smaller 3.5-inch, 480x320 LCD and a three-megapixel camera to keep the price and size down, even as the LTE gives it much faster 4G. It shares the same 1GHz Hummingbird chip and ships with Android 2.2 from the start.

The phone carries MetroPCS' own Android apps and centers on an Iron Man 2 app that includes the full movie as well as extras.

Stores should get the Indulge by the end of the week for $399 on MetroPCS' contract-free service. Plans avoid controversy on mobile and start at $50 per month for unlimited voice and text with 1GB of data, moving up to $60 to add unlimited data as well.
