Nikon Coolpix L120 and L24 round out intros

Nikon wrapped up its CP+ camera show unveilings with two L-series Coolpix entries. Its L120 is a major leap from the L110 and zooms out much further, to 21X. It still shoots 720p video and up to ISO 6,400 (in low resolution), but a resolution boost to 14 megapixels and a twice as sharp 921,000-pixel, three-inch LCD improve the actual and perceived detail.

More frugal buyers have the L24. It has a less costly 3.6X lens and considerably reduced (and as yet unspecified) light sensitivity, but it can shoot still images at 14 megapixels.

The strategic cost savings on either camera brings their end prices significantly lower. An L120 will cost $280, while the L24 will carry a $120 asking price. Nikon expects both to be ready for the end of this month.
