HTC Freestyle brings Brew to AT&T on February 13

HTC Freestyle with Brew due at AT&T on Saturday

Provider AT&T on Tuesday announced it will soon release the HTC Freestyle handset. The quick messaging phone will not have Android onboard, but rather the Brew Mobile Platform from Qualcomm. The phone sports a 3.2-inch display and will be the first non-smartphone to sport the Sense UI.

Other features include a full HTML browser, a 3.2-megapixel camera, a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. HTC's FriendStream social networking app is the centerpiece of the Sense platform and aggregates feeds from different sites into a central area.

When it arrives on February 13, the handset will cost $100 on a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate. This is the same price as the more capable HTC Inspire 4G due at the same time, which sports Android 2.2 and more impressive hardware specs. As a basic feature phone, however, the Freestyle should be less expensive to use each month.
