T-Mobile readying 42Mbps hotspot, cross-platform modem

T-Mobile 42Mbps hotspot and router due spring

T-Mobile's roadmap for its networking devices has leaked on Friday. The network is now known to have two mobile routers in development that would split the line in both speed and international travel. One, jokingly codenamed Wayne in TmoNews' copy of the memo, would top at 21Mbps using only T-Mobile's own 3G frequencies; another, just called Wayne, would supply 42Mbps and carry international 3G bands for traveling.

A similar split would take place for modems. A 21Mbps domestic-only USB stick is due and is codenamed Kitty Hawk. The Washington would again double the speed and add international support. All of these would have Mac support along with Windows, the memo said. Notebook support would expand as well with a Dell Inspiron 14R variant with some form of T-Mobile's HSPA+ access.

With the exception of the 42Mbps Wayne router, all of the hardware would ship in March. The more advanced device would arrive later in the spring.

Is the 21Mbps router code-named "Lil Wayne"?

The joke goes kinda flat if they are both named "Wayne" as the article states. Shouldn't that be "Darryl" and "Darryl"?

No thanks, I'll stick with my 3.33MBPS down and 1.7MBPS up on my iPhone. Everything loads instantly, your network isn't going to make anything faster then instantly.
