Apple slips Xcode 4 golden master ahead of schedule

updated 03:15 pm EST, Thu February 3, 2011

Build quickly pulled from developer site

Apple appears to be nearing the launch date for its Xcode 4 suite of developer utilities, as the company briefly slipped the golden master. The build was posted by Apple earlier today, according to a Twitter post from developer Michael Jurewitz, though the company later pulled the release and switched back to the previous preview.

Changes to the golden master remain unclear, however the previous release added new tools for gauging app performance, a new feature for sharing schemes with other users, and expanded options for archiving files.

Apple has yet to announce a launch date for the final version of Xcode 4.
