Apple pushes iOS 4.3 beta 3 to developers

updated 03:40 pm EST, Tue February 1, 2011

Quick release schedule continues

Apple has released a third beta of iOS 4.3 via the iOS Dev Center. As anticipated, the new code is listed as build 8F5166b. Developers can download a bundle of Xcode 3.2.6 and the new SDK, as well as separate firmware distributions for the iPad, the iPhone 4 and 3GS, and the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch.

Continuing a trend of past v4.3 betas, earlier iOS devices are no longer supported. Any features added to beta 3 have yet to be identified. The firmware's availability is itself significant though, as it is the third release in as many weeks. It could suggest that Apple is intent on finishing the update as soon as possible, though why it would be hurrying is unclear.
