TS-x12 series uses iSCSI, RAID, Marvell CPU
QNAP has announced a new NAS server series for home and small business markets. The Turbo NAS TS-x12 line all use a Marvell 1.2GHz CPU, 256MB of RAM and gigabit Ethernet ports to keep up their speed. The new models are geared toward file sharing, centralized backups and web hosting. They also offer low power consumption and are almost noise-free.
The servers offer RAID and iSCSI support that aren't always present on home NAS. The TS-x12 series include UPnP media serving for streaming media to devices like the PS3 and Xbox 360. The servers can also stream music, photos and video to iOS devices over Wi-Fi or 3G.
The series will include a single-drive model, the TS-112, a 2-drive model, the TS-212 and a 4-drive model, the TS-412, that runs RAID 5 or RAID 6 in addition to the more common RAID 0 and 1 options. The servers are due in February, with pricing not yet available.
