New tool already being used in studios
European software producer Aquafadas, displaying its wares at Booth 818, Kiosk #27 at Macworld 2011, have cut prices on all its software that is currently featured at the Mac App Store for a limited time. PulpMotion, PulpMotion Advanced and KidsMotion have all been heavily discounted, and the company is hinting a new application for creating digital comics will soon join the rest of the lineup.
The forthcoming app, called Comic Composer, has been in use by French publisher AveComics to create digital comics since 2008. It has been used to create over 1,000 digital publications from mangas to graphic novels. Comic Composer was used to help create apps such as Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness, a graphic biography of the country legend augmented with Cash songs from the buyer's iTunes library (if available, or purchasable if not); Bludzee, the daily adventures of an all-black cat; and Seoul District, a manga-style "animated comic" that mixes audio, animation and bonus sequences.
The program features the ability to author digital comics for iPhone, iPad, web-based distribution and other smartphones, including creating animated paths, pans, zooms and other transitions, and also export the animated work to various social networking services or in the multi-media savvy AVE format. Comic Composer will, when released, be available for both Mac and Windows.
The sale for some of Aquafadas' other products can only be accessed through the Mac App Store, which requires 10.6.6. PulpMotion is currently selling for $30 (normally $50), PulpMotion Advanced has been reduced to $100 from $130, and KidsMotion for only $21, less than half its normal price. The promotion ends on Saturday, and can be accessed through their website.
