Adds more Canon, Nikon, Panasonic cameras
Phase One has released a new version of Capture One, its photography workflow software. The utility captures, sorts and edits photos in a manner similar to Lightroom or Aperture, but with a stronger emphasis on a professional audience. Along those lines, the v6.1 update includes support for pressure and eraser functions when using a drawing tablet.
Photographers can now make local brightness and contrast adjustments, and take advantage of support for Getty Images metadata and imports. The program has also gained compatibility with more consumer cameras; these include the Canon G12, the Nikon D3100 and P7000, Pentax's K-5 and K-r, and seven recent Panasonic models. Added medium format hardware includes Phase One's own IQ180, IQ160 and IQ140. The Leaf Aptus II 12 can now be used in tethered mode.
Capture One is available in two editions: the flagship Pro costs $399, but the scaled-down Express is $129. In either case a free 30-day demo is available.
