Google Nexus S to reach Germany in white

updated 05:10 am EST, Tue January 25, 2011

Takes on similar appearance to Galaxy Tab

Samsung is preparing to release a white version of its Google Nexus S smartphone in Germany. The device takes some design cues from a version of its stable mate, the Galaxy Tab that also comes in very similar look with a black front and a white back. The stylistic treatment also reflects the original white iPhone 3G first unveiled by Apple in June 2008.

Other than the cosmetic tweak, the white Nexus S remains unchanged in the specs department. It runs a plain vanilla version of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) that brings an iPhone-like copy-and-paste text system and a boost to multitasking with quicker access to the task manager, among other OS enhancements. Like a number of Samsung's current line of Galaxy S phones, the Nexus S is powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird processor with PowerVR SGX 540 graphics.

    The stylistic treatment

reflects the original white iPhone 3G first unveiled by Apple?

You have got to be kidding me?
Apple did not invent white phones.
Apple was not the first to make a white phone.

Samsung has just made a white phone.
I don't see how this "Reflects the original white iPhone 3G first unveiled by Apple"

Why does everything have to have an Apple connection drawn to it?

Face up to the bitter truth

So Samsung has not even remotely been influenced by Apple and what it does - is that what you're saying? Hmm...the Galaxy S phones, the Galaxy Tab, the Nexus S. The Nexus S, with a black front and white back looks awfully like a white iPhone 3G to me...

@wrenchy, I think you're going to have to come to grips with the reality that Apple are the innovation and design leader in the technology space, and have been for some time. Where Apple goes, everyone else follows hoping to grab on to its coattails.

It's different from a iPhone 3G, it says Samsung

Ignore the fact that you could take a backplate off of 3G and it would probably fit. I guess Samsung will could paint a Porsche white and call it Samsung and you would not see a connection as well.

Perhaps because it is posted on MacNN? Why would we want to read about it if it wasn't somehow relevant to Apple? If you are not interested in Apple, why are you here?
