Wine fans can track their collection on Mac with "Wine"

updated 08:05 pm EST, Tue January 25, 2011

Database for wine lovers at all levels

Montreal's SilverCocoa is now offering Wines, a wine appreciation and collection database for Macs exclusively available through the Mac App Store. The program allows wine enthusiasts to maintain records on their collection, or just keep track of wines they have tasted and enjoyed for future reference. It can be used by wine connoisseurs or users just starting out to expand their wine knowledge.

The app uses the Snooth database, which allows for auto-completion and complete information on almost any wine entered. The program also features a Smart Image Finder for bottle or label images of a given wine, or users can use their built-in webcam (found on most Mac models) to snap a picture of the bottle on the spot. Wines can be sorted and searched by country, region, varietal, comments, price or other criteria, and features a visual cue to immediately identify whether the wine is red, white or some other variant.

Wines is currently on sale for a limited time to celebrate its debut, and is being offered at $10 instead of the usual $15. The program itself requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, but obtaining it requires the Mac App Store which needs 10.6.6 or higher. The program can be found in the Lifestyles category of the store.

    Woohoo!

Now pretentious Wine owners can be more pretentious by tracking their over-priced wines with their Macs!
