Comodo Console expected to expand beyond Israel

Israeli cellular carrier Cellcom has collaborated with startup Iway Mobile to introduce an Internet and entertainment system geared for vehicles. The Comodo Console integrates a 4.3-inch touchscreen, which presents an interface for various features such as GPS navigation and video from a rear camera when the user is backing up.

The system prohibits users from communicating via written messages, but it does provide incoming e-mails and hands-free speakerphone capabilities via Bluetooth. Users can also access Internet-based radio stations, locally stored audio files, dozens of TV channels and other video content from sites such as YouTube.

The Comodo Console will be sold by Cellcom in Israel for the equivalent of $24 USD for 36 months, while service packages and music options add to the base price. Iway expects to launch the device in France, Russia and China in the near future, though the company has yet to announce plans for a North American introduction. [via Reuters]
