Apple Canada offers deal on refurb iPads
updated 02:50 pm EST, Fri January 21, 2011
Selection limited to Wi-Fi models
Apple Canada's online store is now offering a "special limited time" price on refurbished iPads. Only 16, 32 and 64GB Wi-Fi models are available, at prices of $479, $549 and $649, respectively. The deal is however substantially cheaper than buying new, which would normally cost between $549 and $749 despite parity between the US and Canadian dollars.
Refurbished iPads are themselves an extremely recent arrival in Canada. Each one includes a one year warranty, as well as a new battery and outer shell. The sharp discounts may suggest that Apple is keen to clear out stock, particularly as a second-generation iPad is expected to ship in March or April.

Parity
That's something that really shreds my cheese. CA$ is within a penny of the US$. They have been bouncing around parity for several years in fact a couple of years ago the CA$ spent nearly a year between US$1.05-US$1.10. Despite this Apple products along with nearly everything else are priced at a significant premium.
Canadians cross the border to get things for less in the states and local dealers are hurt.
It really bites.
